Discovering
the missing link between TAROT
& I CHING
Introducing
the 'Complete New Tarot'
by Rob and Onno Docters
van Leeuwen.
24 Tarot
Cards & Book, "The Complete
New Tarot" with previously unknown
links between the Tarot and the I Ching.
Includes the 24 Cards of the Major Arcana
(with Truth and Intuition).
Explanation
in brief:
Historically, the number of Major Arcana
cards, according to author Rob Docters van
Leeuwen, was edited down from an original
24 to 22 by omitting Jupiter (King of Heaven)
and Juno (Queen of Heaven), as the Inquisition
viewed these two Roman divinities as pagan
competition for the Christian figureheads.
So the total number of Tarot cards was thus
reduced to 78. By restoring the two missing
Major Arcana cards to 24, the total becomes
80, and there is then a numerical cross-reference
possible to the I Ching.
From
Intro of 'The Complete New Tarot': e
Perhaps
two of the most widely known systems of
divination are the Tarot deck of cards,
and the I Ching, most commonly deciphered
from throwing three coins in repetitive
sequence. (A brief history of the two
systems is included in the book).
To
date, there has been no apparent connection
between the two systems, the Tarot having
a set of cards with 78 archetypal images
(Major & Minor Arcana) and the I Ching
having 64 hexagrams and 16 trigrams.
Long-term
researchers of esoteric divination systems,
Rob & Onno Docters van Leeuwen, have
found a 'missing link' between the historical
Tarot and the I Ching, by their rediscovery
and restoration of two archetypes to classical
Tarot: Truth (Jupiter) and Intuition (Juno).
The 'King and Queen of Heaven', from the
Roman pantheon of mythical godheads, were
removed from the Major Arcana of the Tarot
deck during the witch hunting era of the
Inquisition, and currently there are two
blank cards accompanying the 78 printed
ones. In the Docters van Leeuwen brothers
'Complete New Tarot', there are now 80 archetypal
images, numerically equivalent to the I
Ching's 64 hexagrams and 16 trigrams (80
in all).
In the Tarot & I Ching feature, Rob
Docters van Leeuwen explores the symbolic
connections and gives examples, featuring
