Your
Other Half
by Brian Clark
Siblings
and Surrogates - The dynamics of love, loss
and projection.
"...
the sibling can become either the measuring
stick, or the roadblock, for your emerging
identity, playing the role of either rival
or hero."
"This
feeling of connection to the missing 'other
half' is often idealised as the soulmate
(Libra) or the bonds of fraternal or sisterly
love (Aquarius)."
As
a sibling, we each have our own unique orientation
within the family, defined by sequence of
birth and personal experiences of family
environment. In astrology, sibling patterns
and dynamics are revealed in the horoscope
through planets in Gemini, the Third House,
or as aspects to Mercury.
The
sibling is an archetypal image and part
of each child's soul and fate. Even an only
child may find sibling surrogates in cousins,
neighbourhood playmates or at the day care
centre. As witnesses to our childhood, brothers
and sisters share the familial history and
impress upon us some of our earliest attitudes,
values and beliefs.
Astrological
images of brothers and sisters, sibling
relationships and their impact on the formation
of our character are evident in our horoscopes
at birth, awaiting exploration and explanation
by a skilled astrologer.
